Aki has written extensively on the subject data privacy in works including “Collecting in the Wild West: Impacts and Updates for Collection Operations in the Face of Emerging Privacy Regulation in California and Washington State” and “The Biggest Data: Advising Clients about Alternative Lending Models and the Regulatory Scrutiny They Generate,” both of which appeared in Business Law Today in 2019. She has also been a featured speaker on such topics as “Putting the Person in Personal Data: The Expansion of Personal Data and How to Navigate Its Changes, Its Regulation and Its Use in Financial Services,” presented at the American Bar Association Consumer Financial Services Committee Meeting in 2020, and “Online Identity Verification Services: Managing Risk and Avoiding Fraud through Emerging technologies,” presented at the American Bar Association Consumer Financial Services Committee Meeting in 2018.

Aki is also the Communications Chair for the Corporate Compliance Committee of the ABA Business Law Section. Her work has also included several other positions such as Chief Privacy Officer and Deputy General Counsel. She is a member of professional organizations such as International Association of Privacy Professionals and the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional.
